Feminine and classic, pink is a wonderful wedding color because of the variety of flower options and shades available to you year round. And using pink as your wedding color doesn’t have to be overly girly either. Below I’ve gathered some timeless, effortless pink flower options for weddings.

Although pink is technically a lighter shade of red, I think that it is unique and requested often enough to deserve its own post. Pink includes shades of ruby, bright pink, fuscha, watermelon, hot pink, flamingo, baby pink, blush and salmon.

Pink flowers are very popular for use in weddings, I believe at least in part for their association with feminine romance and beauty. Statement flowers are large, often round-shaped flowers that function as show-stoppers within a floral design. Popular pink statement flowers include…

Secondary flowers have a similar shape to statement flowers in an arrangement, except that they are often smaller in size and price. Secondary flowers are used to create movement, contrast, interest and balance with in the floral design. Some pink secondary flowers include….

Filler flowers often provide the textural interest in a floral arrangement or can simply fill out holes in a design - without breaking the budget. Popular filler flowers available in pink include….

Depending on the arrangement style or type, height flowers may not be needed. Height flowers tend to have longer stems and are either in a spike or a branching shape. These types of flowers are used to create height, and add drama, especially if the arrangement needs to be on a larger scale. Some popular pink height flowers include….

Since most shades of pink are effectively a less intense version of red, I would venture to say that it is easier to pair pink with other colors than a bold red. And there are many color palettes to choose from that include pink and would be lovely for a wedding.

A monochromatic palette would include all pink flowers, either of the same shade or various lighter and darker shades. You could even include a red shade, such as burgundy, in a pink monochromatic flower arrangement.

An analogous palette includes hues next to each other on the color wheel. Hues analogous to pink are shades of orange and purple.

A complementary color palette is made up of colors opposite of each other on the color wheel. Pink’s complimentary color is green. Some more nuanced color palettes may incorporate secondary or tertiary complementary colors to pink.

If you have clicked on any of the links in this article so far, you were take to the website FiftyFlowers.com. I have used this bulk flower company for many years now and consider it the best flower market for DIY couples. They consistently offer the most affordable prices for flowers (available to those without a business license or wholesale account). I also regularly use their website for initial design planning and pricing research. To top it all off, they ship the flowers directly to your door!

If you are researching red wedding flower options, you can search the “wedding color” tab as a great starting place, even if you plan to use a florist. But if you want to DIY the flowers for your wedding or other event, I can’t recommend them enough.

However, if sustainability and decreasing your carbon footprint is a priority of yours, please realize that Fifty Flowers (and most other online flower retailers I’ve seen) use large scale flowers farms in distant countries, such as Ecuador.

Using local, or at least American Grown flowers is a way to lower your carbon footprint, support American Farmers and source some truly special seasonal blooms for your floral designs. If this is important to you, I recommend researching local farms in your area on the Slow flowers Directory. American Flower Farming and floristry as a whole has been experiencing a resurgence in recent years similar to the farm-to-table efforts in the food and restaurant industries. The Slow Flower Directory allows you to search for farmers in your area and provides websites and/or contact information for member businesses with compatible values.
